Aries, the Tenth House, which is where you live in July 2023, is ruled by the zodiac sign Capricorn and Saturn. This is where you climb to the top, achieving your goals and becoming successful. From there you either spend a great deal of time hanging on to the top or finding other mountains to climb. Capricorn is an ancient symbol for the goat who scales the heights, being careful not to put a foot wrong.
Well you’ve certainly done that since this long cycle began in 2008. And just lately, success, position, ambition became even more relentless. The stakes rose. So did the challenges. Now in July at last you can do what you never did before.
The Tenth House describes the system. This may be the class system. The caste system in India. It describes the typical hierarchy of a corporation or business. The interns or work-experience placements are at the bottom. At the top is the C.E.O. or Manager.
There are big sign-off questions in July which will lead to further decisions in December, January 2024. Do you respect the game – and want to play the game – or do you struggle with the rules?
Aries, there are all kinds of rules, regulations, checks and balances in a typical Tenth House workplace, business, government, government department, company or corporation. You must yet again face this down in July yet this time it is different. The intensity of late June has made July a ‘no compromise’ moment for decisions. Aries, with the Tenth House, there is always that fundamental ambition to do better, go further and climb higher.
We associate High Society (as in, the film of the same name) with Capricorn, where Pluto now is in your chart – and the Tenth House. No matter how you feel about the mountains you have climbed, levelled with or fallen off (perhaps left alone) July is the month you have to accept the mistakes of the past and be firm enough to correct it all.

Taurus, July is the month you will actually get real about all that you have let slide, with foreigners and foreign countries, in recent years. This also applies to academia, publishing and/or the worldwide web. Enough avoidance and distraction. Recent events have shown you that you have to actually find your power and that begins with willpower.
Pluto is back in your Ninth House with a Full Moon too. The Ninth House of your horoscope describes travel and travel in the mind. Real journeys and intellectual, educational, academic or spiritual journeys. The Ninth House can show emigration. Globalisation. Export. Import. Foreign languages. Vast distances and vast subjects too, like history, sociology, quantum mechanics or literature. Now, willpower is needed for empowerment. Otherwise you will go on feeling overpowered.
Writing in Horoscope Symbol (Whitford Press 1981), Robert Hand notes the connection of the Ninth House not only with the higher mind, long journeys, philosophy and religion – but also the law. As we discussed at the International Astrology Conference in Melbourne in January 2018, law brings in questions about what is legal, permitted or banned in different countries. Perhaps this is relevant to you now in July, Taurus.
Essentially, being bullied, pushed around or pulled around is no longer necessary. You may have given up hope it could ever be fixed. Not so. It can be. You are going to have to do what you’ve not done to date, though. And if it is the universe itself which seems to be pulling you around, the time has come to stand up to that and transform yourself.

Gemini, Pluto in Capricorn and a Full Moon in Capricorn, make July the month you actually do something about the financial, business, charity or property issues that have never gone away. You may have thought they did, but June has shown you – not so. Now, you can actually do something about who or what has been so powerful.
They call the Eighth House (where you find Pluto and the Full Moon) the house of sex, death and money. Marriage and mortgage. The family will. The Eighth House, centuries ago, before no-fault divorce arrived in the 1970’s, was very much about sexual union that meant death was the only way out. An unhappy marriage, particularly for a woman – who before she obtained the vote, or The Pill, had no power to leave – could lead all the way to the end.
That’s all rather intense, but I have to mention it. You can find these cycles where gay men share an apartment together and have to decide the marriage question. You can also find it in really unusual situations where ‘sex, death and money’ has quite a different meaning to you. Commonly, it is about ex-wife support and child support or just living with someone and splitting the rent.
The question of the legacy, or last will and testament, is never far behind. When Pluto himself passed through Scorpio for the first time in around 250 years, from November 1983, the world had to adjust to the pain of the HIV virus and AIDS.
From the Eighth House and Scorpio we have the familiar image of the vampire, technically dead – who has sex with the living – who then become the undead. Inevitably, the vampire in question has a castle, oil paintings, gold rings and an impressive fortune. If you’ve had some sort of human sexual vampire in your world, it’s likely been shown through your bank account, Gemini.
However this has played out for you, enough is enough. There is no reason why you should be pushed and pulled around anymore. You know what to do you’ve just never done it.

Cancer, this is the last Full Moon in your sector of duets and duels, that’s here with Pluto. The two-way street or one-against-one battle is now drawing to a close for the second time. The first time was March. Now, you get to see what happens in July could result in a real ‘That was then, this is now’ feeling in December, January 2024.
Chapter close? Is it possible? Well, you really have no choice, Cancer. Be this marriage or professional contest, things have gone way too far, and you know it.
The Seventh House is ruled by scales in your chart. Scales are also a symbol of justice, and the law, and as marriage, common law marriage (the clue is in the name) and professional partnerships are legally binding agreements, you can see why this may have been the story. This month the South Node goes into Libra, also the scales. For so many Cancer people the law will be the last word, now through next year.
Another classic thing about the Seventh House is its association with enemies, rivals and opponents – the opposition – at the same time as its rulership of former, current and potential partners. Actually it’s all common sense when you think about it. When you fall in love with someone, there is usually a third person in the background. This may be your former lover, or your new partner’s ex-wife-, ex-husband, ex-girlfriend or ex-boyfriend.
It is also true that falling in love with someone and becoming his/her partner, means excluding others who want you (or who want him, or her). Thus, the idea of rivalry but also partnership that comes with the Seventh House.
This also shows up in business, academia and the professions. Partnerships which are based on work are often made stronger (glued together more tightly) because both people have joined forces as allies.
The scales of Libra can sometimes lead to justice or fairness issues which must be decided with lawyers – classically, the divorce court – but less formally, ideas about equality belong here too. You may be dealing with the aftermath of a separation or divorce from years ago in July.
The ultimate aim of strongly Seventh House cycles like July 2023, is to balance the scales so that ‘equal but different’ works and both sides operate together. You have been overpowered too often. Enough. You know what to do and what not to do.

Leo, July is dominated by Pluto in the Sixth House and a Full Moon there too. Leo it is time to stop avoiding obvious life changes and actually make them. Dislodge old habits you fell into or old excuses you gave yourself in 2021, 2022. You may actually not have a choice.
The Sixth House is revealing if you are trying to find a psychological or spiritual explanation for a particular illness or chronic condition. July can show you what needs attention – and why it might need attention. Commonly it is related to the work you do, and how your unconscious mind, or your very soul, feels about doing that work. Study too. And unpaid work. Maybe enough is enough. The Sixth House is very much about daily rituals and the method and order of your regular routine. Walking the dog. Housework. These things matter in July.
In all cases, right across the board, it is the body you own, the shape you are in, and the state your doctor says you are in – which dictates what you do in July. I am sure you are so used to your body and also your work that you have probably forgotten just how important that is. You may have let things go. July won’t let you do that.
With Pluto, willpower is empowerment and self-control gives you control. If you have been overpowered, you know what to do. I hope you are getting a feeling for Virgo and the Sixth House that makes sense to you. The ‘condition your condition is in’ dictates your workload. If you also have Virgo natal chart factors, double that message. We also have transits there this month so it’s a double whammy.
Work and well-being are linked yet again in July. Only your strength of mind will transform you and your life so that you get rid of who/what has been pushing you around.

Virgo, July is the month you don’t have any choice; extreme situations involving courtship, the bedroom, heirs, spares and pretenders to your throne will force transformation. You have been circling choices but not actually making them in any powerful way, according to your chart. Well, now you can and must. Pluto and a Full Moon urge you to do that.
The Fifth House of your horoscope, where we find Pluto, is about heirs or at least a young relative who can take over the throne.
The idea of teaching, mentoring and guiding the young is strongly associated with the Fifth House and you can do this if you are a parent, grandparent, aunt, uncle, godparent – or have paid work, or even voluntary work, involving a generation which comes after you.
So, the Fifth House has nothing to do with horse-racing then (children can’t gamble) although it is certainly about polo, or hacking, or the local Pony Club. It’s far more likely to show up as the connection you have with a far younger generation, as you grow older, and it doesn’t matter if you are teaching small children in another country (above) or guiding your own offspring to greatness.
From all these ideas, we find the Fifth House associations with sexual relationships (literally, courtship) which may or may not end in pregnancy. We also find babies and children here, and young adults. The common association of the Fifth House with all forms of entertainment and even gambling is misleading. It describes, instead, the activities and interests which bring the generations together. So, riding with your godson or having picnics with your niece.
This is more than a picnic though. This is Pluto. So the huge choices you make and changes you adopt (finally, properly) will lead to a tremendous sign-off at Christmas and in January 2024. Go to it.

Libra, July is about your family, household, apartment, house, hometown and/or homeland. You are at the point of no return, and you know what you must do, Libra. There is no ducking and diving in July. You’ve been shown that the key things weren’t really resolved in 2022 so now you must go forth and find your power. The pay-off is Christmas, then January 2024 when if you get this right, you will shake your head at just how much you achieved.
July is very much associated with home. House, apartment, land, garden, hometown, homeland. July is also about patriotism for this reason. Or not! The hometown and homeland will ultimately ‘out’, wherever you feel they actually are, now.
The Full Moon in astrology (coming in Capricorn) rules motherhood, and I am sure you know the famous connection between the Moon’s 28/29-day cycle (a moonth, in the old days – which became a month) and a woman’s monthly period. The Fourth House, where we find half of that lunar pattern, is about your mother, or stepmother. If your grandmother raised you, then it is about her. The precise nature of the relationship with Mum or Mom can be shown in July. You have huge choices to make.
Writing in Horoscope Symbols, Robert Hand notes, “Real estate is our private piece of Earth, land on which we build our home.” The association of the Fourth House with your apartment or house is really emotional in nature, not so much about making or saving money through playing the property ladder. So it is to your feelings you turn in July, Libra, to do what you should have done in 2021. If not 2022, when it was already running away with you. What was running away with you? Well, the person, the people, the place or the situation which quite frankly has pushed you around for too long.

Scorpio, July challenges you to stop giving in to online situations, people or organisations which have had the upper hand for far too long. Sometimes, with recurring, very difficult outcomes. You know things should be fixed and could be fixed, but you’ve not acted. That’s about to change. Pluto in your Third House means business.
Scorpio, the Third House describes how you connect and communicate. It is concerned with the Worldwide Web, but also telephones and microphones. The Third House also reveals writing, speech, hearing and the way you take in information, and then send it out into the world.
One of the most famous astrologers of the 20th century was Howard Sasportas. Writing in his book, The Twelve Houses (Thorsons 1985). Howard saw the Third House this way: “Bits of information are gathered here and there, and usually some effort is made to perceive how the various parts fit into a larger whole.”
However you have been cycling around this since 2008 (yes that long ago) you have been repeatedly pushed and pulled around by fate and sometimes ended up in the most critical situations. July is different. July is the turning point. Knowing you must, must, must do something (or face the consequences) is your internet motivator. Of course it may be the media, publishing or education that is doing this.
Writing in Horoscope Symbols (Whitford Press 1981), the great American astrologer Robert Hand notes, “Short journeys and moving about” are associated with the Third House. Again, if something as basic as commuting or local holidays has pushed you around, psychologically or even in a practical way – it’s time to act.
You will sometimes read that the Third House is associated with siblings. Actually, the Fourth House is about your family as a whole. I suspect the reason some astrologers have found a connection with brothers and sisters and the Third House is that so often young children are left together by their parents and as this occurs during the development of language (which this house actually does rule) you find brothers/sisters become each other’s sounding boards for words.
Has a brother or sister yanked your chain? Done worse? Scorpio, enough is enough. Do what you should have done last year, or the year before, or at least make an attempt. Honestly by Christmas you could be rewarding yourself on what you began in July.

Sagittarius, in July, because you actually have no choice (things can only get worse actually), you find yourself taking dramatic action over money, property, business or charity and finally feeling the power come back. In actual fact you are being (strangely) propelled towards proper power, strength and control by Pluto. None of these endless challenges are supposed to just test you. They are supposed to transform you and make you empowered, financially. Pluto and the Full Moon in your Second House, tell the story.
You are living out your Second House when you decide if it’s a bargain, or over-priced. The Second House is about the price tag you hang on everything. How much can you afford to pay for rent, for a mortgage, for a property portfolio? When people ask, “What is it worth?” – they are asking as Second House question. This brings us to Wall Street, which is linked to Taurus and the Second House because of its ‘birth’ chart, but also because of the famous charging bronze bull, which symbolises a bull market on the share markets. People who make a fortune on Wall Street can do so, by selling their souls.
This takes me to the question of values. I often say, ‘What you will and will not sell out for” and this brings us back to the things that money cannot buy. Integrity. Freedom. Self-Respect. Compassion. Truth. Dignity. These are the priceless, precious, spiritual values that matter the most. They say you ‘can’t take it with you, when you’re gone’ (talking about possessions or property) but what you do take with you, into the afterlife, is your soul stash. The stuff in your spiritual ‘bank account’ being the character assets that you refused to trade over.
Given that we also have major transits in Taurus in July, if you have anything in that sign, you can double that message about values. No matter if you sack your bank or pay your tax, get a second income source or – start saving – July is the month that Pluto means business.

Capricorn, July is about reputation and image issues, Capricorn. How you present on camera, on Zoom – how you are seen on Google. Pluto is in your First House, giving you an ultimatum. You have to get this right because you actually have no more options. From August, for example, unless you feel confident that you have ‘Me’ in hand, you are not going to be able to do much about it. So start now.
The First House of the horoscope is ruled by your need (or the big ask) that you thrust forward in life and push to the front. If you are ever on the cover of Vanity Fair, that’s your First House. If you were in a band, we would say this was where you were behind the microphone, yet in front of the drummer and your guitarists.
The Romans often won battles before they even had to show up, because the locals were terrified by their fearsome reputation. The Roman army was also clever in its use of ‘accessories’ like helmets and swords. It was all for show, but it worked.
What has happened to you in recent years has so frequently overpowered you that you have ended up not being entirely sure you can make the changes, that you know you must. Actually, you can certainly make them. Look around you in July and you will see that circumstances have lined up that way. Whatever it takes, others have been there before you. They have found ways to stop being pushed around, pulled around, yanked around and sometimes even stood over. That’s you in July. Your reward comes in December when you sign off 2023.

Aquarius, Pluto circles your Twelfth House for almost the last time. Aquarius, the Twelfth House is associated with dreams and dreaming. It is also linked to clairvoyance, mediumship, Tarot card work, channelling and automatic writing. It is about God or your rejection of God.
All of this takes you to the final bridge to cross in July. You will be shown again why willpower is power and self-control is control, Aquarius. We associate this house of your chart with the soul, the spirit or the unconscious mind. Hypnosis is another Twelfth House concern.
Beyond the idea of the soul, or the unconscious mind, the Twelfth House is associated with secrets. Your naked truths, not normally seen except in unusual circumstances, like surgery. It can take a great deal of energy to keep these matters far, far below the surface. You need to be alone in July. The relationship with the private self becomes ever more important, Aquarius.
July will also show your involvement in other words, or other realities. These may be drug-induced (marijuana) or alcohol-induced, or they may come to you through deep meditation, scrying or any other supernatural means.
The other repeated message you will see about the Twelfth House is that it is about solitude and the need to be alone. It can be a strain keeping those kinds of confidential, delicate or private matters back in everyday conversation, particularly with a great many people, and so the need for solitary escape may arise, which comes as a relief and a release.
July is the month that at last you make the changes you promised yourself you would, and never did, year after year.

Pisces, July is about the final sign-off decision on your social life, friends and the groups which affect you most. You’ve been through the most intense experiences here. The less you changed, the more relentless Pluto was. Now, at last, you can nod to a road with an end.
You will sometimes see the Eleventh House associated with hopes and dreams – ideals and wishes. This is rather vague, as we all have hopes and dreams about every single one of the twelve horoscope houses. However, it is true that what we long for can sometimes only be realised through a group, or even a movement.
Martin Luther King (‘I have a dream’) reminds us of that. Sometimes, just as an Ancient Roman could only have the fantasy of a swimming pool, through his/her fellow Romans – we only achieve far-off dreams, because of people power. This idea of ‘we the people’ is central to you in July. A group which can do more in unity than anyone imagined, can now turn the corner. Any mistakes you have made in previous years can be fixed.
If you have felt overpowered by anyone or anything, July is the month to finally do something about it. And with the group, the trick to unity in diversity is tolerance. Space! So, a social brotherhood or sisterhood which – even in the confines of the web – must try to give each other room to move, so that the high ideal can be achieved.
The downside of this group vision can be the excesses where the individuality and independence disappears under the crushing weight of conformity. Peer group pressure is another example of an Eleventh House challenge but in July you’ll nail it.
In general, though, with awareness and effort, it should be possible to harness your Eleventh House transits in July, for the greater good – and your good as well. The balance of power can be sorted with a friend, perhaps for the last necessary time.
