There is a big difference between the astrological Millennials (also known as Gen Y) and the mainstream Millennials. Journalists use the early Eighties as starting birth years for this much-criticised generation – and the mid-Nineties to early 2000’s as the end, with 1981 to 1996 a widely accepted range, according to Wikipedia. Yet, they could not be more wrong. There is a huge gap between the blue hair of Generation Aquarius (they dye their hair so they can feel like a tribe and look the same) and Generation Capricorn (they will only dye their hair if it gets them a great , high-flying job as a television presenter).
Astrology Disagrees
In astrology, generations are defined by stelliums, or rare line-ups of planets or Nodes, in the same zodiac signs, as various age groups are born. Some astrologers believe whole soul groups (millions of people) incarnate with the same signature zodiac signs for planets like Uranus or Pluto, in order to achieve a soul mission for the generation.
In fact, you can make money from this. Anyone watching Sixties Generation Virgo (born 1960-1969) could have predicted that by adulthood (when they are old enough to shop) in 1980-1989, they would be spending on health and fitness. Virgo rules both of these. They could also have bet they would be spending on work.
Generation Virgo – Born in the Sixties
So, if you invested in Evian or Perrier mineral water, Virgin gyms, Nike or Adidas trainers, Apple iPhones (take your work home) or vegetarian fast food, you would now be a rich astrology observer. If you want to make money from different demographics, use astrology. You don’t sell to Generation Capricorn (status-obsessed, social-climbing) the way you do to Generation Sagittarius or Generation Aquarius, neither of whom could care less about class or wealth.
But let’s get back to Millennials (or Gen Y) and why the astrology disagrees with the media. You may be about to recognise yourself here, or someone you know. Maybe you are about to recognise your staff, or your marketplace.
There is a world of difference between Generation Aquarius (born in 1999 with three factors in Aquarius, below) and Generation Capricorn. Generation Capricorn would not have a meeting in such a casual, social way. Generation Aquarius would not dream of having a meeting unless it felt like a lunch party.
Not So Fast, 1981
We don’t see any strong patterns for 1981 babies. In fact, they are all over the place, in terms of stelliums (unusually high clusters of planets or Nodes in just one sign). 1982 isn’t particularly important either.
It’s really 1983 that starts the first wave.
This is Generation Sagittarius, born with Jupiter, Uranus and Neptune in Sagittarius – but also the South Node. The 1983 babies, who are aged 37 in 2020, are the cheap, frequent travel generation.
Check Your Personal Birth Chart
Even if you were not born in the years listed in this feature – or are not even a Millennial – if you find your personal birth chart shows a stellium (more than three factors) in Sagittarius, Scorpio, Capricorn, Aquarius or Scorpio-Capricorn – then you are an honorary member of that tribe.
Generation Sagittarius
Sagittarius rules foreign people and places. easyJet, founded in 1995, came along when this generation (Generation Sagittarius) was 12 when easyJet appeared and their parents took them on budget holidays around Europe. JetBlue came along in 1998 when this generation was aged 15 and again – their parents took them on cheap vacations across America.
Climate Emergency is partly down to huge air miles and the 1983 babies just kept on flying.
Generation Sagittarius holds in 1984 with the South Node in Sagittarius, Uranus in Sagittarius and Neptune in Sagittarius. That’s still a stellium.
So, here is a very specific group of Millennials, born in 1983 and 1984, who are not like the rest. Sagittarius also rules university, college, publishing and the worldwide web. They made it their own. This is Generation Webinar who never stop learning. If COVID-19 stops or slows international travel for them (as it repeatedly will) then they will travel in the mind, online, instead.
Generation Scorpio 1985
Generation Scorpio arrives in 1985. They were born with the South Node, Saturn and Pluto in Scorpio. This sign rules sex and money. The years 1985 and 1986 delivered AIDS to the world and suddenly gay men and life insurance were at the front of big business and government. Aged 35 today, they are the condoms, internet pornography, vampires (Twilight) and Fifty Shades of Grey generation.
Generation Capricorn 1989, 1990, 1991, 1992
After this, we have a few years of general patterns, then along comes Generation Capricorn, born in 1989, 1990, 1991, 1992. They arrived with Uranus, Saturn and Neptune in Capricorn. Or with the North Node, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune in Capricorn. Historic and unusual.
They are status-seeking, social-climbing, professionally ambitious Capricorn mountain goat types, no matter what their actual Sun Signs are. (This applies to every generation. The signs are your personal stamp, but your generation is your fated footprint on the planet).
This generation is professionally hit hard in 2020, the year that COVID-19 has taken over the planet.
As I predicted way back on December 26th, 2017, in The Capricorn Effect, this generation was always going to hit the hard reality of government and corporations in 2020. Why? The chain of command, the promotion system and the hierarchy are breaking and broken.
This was my prediction, now three years old:
“Unemployment, Reality and Generation Capricorn – Unemployment is unfortunately a real risk for Gen Capricorn. This may be one reason why 2020 sees such a demand for a rethink about age, seniority, internships, promotion, pensions, retirement and the rest. Capricorn is actually ruled by Saturn in astrology, which you probably know, and so the arrival of this planet in his own sign is a double whammy.”
The 1994 and 1995 Children
Born in 1994 and 1995 with the North Node in Scorpio, Pluto in Scorpio, Jupiter in Scorpio (1994) and also Uranus in Capricorn, Neptune in Capricorn – this generation is Scorpion-Goat.
Generation Scorpio-Capricorn
This generation is about sex and money obsession and brings the karma of Scorpio, plus the Capricorn ambition and social mountaineering, status-seeking (this is why ‘status’ on Facebook has been so important to them) and climbing of the mountain goat.
Scorpion-Goat 1994 and 1995 people could not be different to Generation Sagittarius which is why you will strike problems if you try to lump all these Millennial or Gen Y people in together.
Cheap Flights to Dublin or the Mile-High Club?
Generation Sagittarius wants to take a cheap flight to Dublin. Generation Scorpio-Capricorn want to run the airline and have sex in The Mile-High Club, with the flight attendants. Generation Sagittarius is a good example of how big business should use astrology (not marketing) to turn traffic. This woman, below, is a good example of the difference in fashion and accessory demand from two separate tribes of Millennials. Generation Sagittarius has turned the backpack or rucksack into a handbag. Generation Scorpio would prefer the handbag because it’s a strong archetypal sex signal. It’s powerfully feminine/female.
Generation Sagittarius spends money on backpacks. Generation Scorpio spends money on underwear and lingerie.
Generation Sagittarius. Charles Etoror.
The 1999 and 2000 Babies – Generation Aquarius
The next strong pattern arises in 1999 when babies are born with Neptune, Uranus and the South Node in Aquarius. Their core reason for being here is friendship – and the group. You can read more about them here.
They are so different to the other students who were at school with them, that it’s almost insulting to bracket them together and call them ‘Millennials’ or ‘Gen Y’ as their priorities are wildly different.
The 1999 babies are 20, 21 years old and they have incarnated to teach the planet about people power within a network.
These are the first-time voters who are going to change the United States of America in the November 2020 election. They are here for community, diversity and equality. They do not want old white men running the planet.
The New United Nations From 2023
As they come of age, and come into their own from 2023 onwards (with Pluto in Aquarius) they will use global people power to control the agenda and completely reshape the United Nations.
Non-white women, in particular, will rise through the ranks with this group, both as leaders and voters. Just watch them. An Aquarius in Rome, where our astrology comes from, was the water-bearer who supplied the Roman baths. Men, women, black, white, rich, poor, old, young used to pool resources and share the pools together. That is what this sign is all about.
Millennials in Astrology and the Future
We couldn’t have a more diverse bunch of people here. The ‘extremes’ (the generations born with an unusually high count of factors in just one zodiac sign) all have hugely different hopes, dreams, obsessions and destinies. Those born in years not mentioned here (in-between years) are more rounded, balanced and less extreme. They also have fewer extreme fates, as Generation Sagittarius, Generation Capricorn, Generation Aquarius, Generation Scorpio and Generation Scorpio-Capricorn find ‘it never rains but it pours.’ They go through major highs and lows in their lives as they are more affected by the transits.
Narcissism and Millennials
Millennials are associated with the Selfie Stick, Instagram filters and narcissism – the constant checking of Facebook status updates and popularity. Is it true (below) or a myth? In astrology we run a check across the signs and find Generation Capricorn (below, climbing to the top as usual) most likely to be obsessed with online photographs – because they are social status markers, but also basic job advertisements for keen networkers. Generation Sagittarius and Aquarius really don’t care. Generation Scorpio uses photographs and videos as sexual lures. Generation Scorpio-Capricorn manages to attract both Tinder interest and possible Linked In hires through Instagram. So that’s the appeal – astrologically speaking.
Generation Sagittarius
Generation Globalisation. Spend their money on cheap travel and support globalisation. Travel and migration without borders or obstacles, one world, one planet. Sagittarius also rules publishing, so this is about Amazon, Wikipedia, Google, Apple, Facebook and the American-run, one-world. They face their biggest challenge from around 2026, when Uranus (shock, revolution) in Gemini opposes their Sagittarius stellium for many years ahead. This is the end of globalisation, for seven years, following serious obstacles in 2020, 2021, 2022 when the North Node was also in Gemini, blocking their plans to travel or relocate. COVID-19 aside, there may be other reasons for this generation’s brick walls from April 2026, when Uranus enters Gemini. The worldwide web itself will be completely reshaped from that point.
Generation Capricorn
Conservative, middle-aged in their twenties, status-seeking, ambitious, cautious and practical. Built to make it to the top, they are highly image conscious on Linked In and Instagram and could not be more different from Generation Aquarius (below) or Generation Sagittarius. This is the generation who wear suits, suit jackets and dress older than they really are. Status is Capricorn territory and so designer labels are a calling card. Generation Capricorn is down-to-earth (Capricorn is an earth sign) businesslike, respectful of authority and the establishment. Yet, of all the generations, by the end of 2020, when Saturn finally leaves Capricorn, they will have their toughest lesson about that same establishment. They are here to redefine success.
Generation Scorpio
Generation Sex. They lost their virginity in the era of free and uncensored internet pornography. This is also the “Me Too” generation who have survived sexual assault or abuse and want to change the system. A fascination with vampires (sex and death) is their calling card. Scorpio has long ruled sex, death and money. In fact, they arrived on the planet as the HIV virus was spreading and were thus born into an extremely unusual phase of history, when condoms and safe sex were taught at school – and bondage went into the mainstream. They have incarnated to explore sex, death and money – the big Scorpio three. It goes without saying that COVID-19 management is central to their purpose with the new realities it brings.
Generation Scorpio-Capricorn
A mixture of sex and ambition, they are the most sophisticated (beyond their years) of all the generations, but also the most hard-hit by the new cycle of Uranus in Taurus and Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn, arriving with COVID-19. The reality of sex and death is back for them, just as it was for their parents with AIDS. So too is the reality of corporate and government failure. They are here to rethink how we have relationships and how we succeed. They do this through difficult obstacles in their path as the Saturn-Pluto in Capricorn cycle which dominated/dominates 2018-2019-2020 has been about the beginning of the end of the system. What system? The traditional system placing older white men at the top of the elite.
Generation Aquarius
Another group again in the mislabeled ‘Millennial’ age bracket. They grew up with reruns of Teletubbies and Friends (people power on the small screen) and Doctor Who (teamwork in a group). They don’t do sex and they don’t do intimacy; they do friendship. People power is their calling card and, after 2023, they will slowly transform the way politics works globally by genuinely realising the vision of one planet, one people, across gender, age, race and other divisions. Generation Aquarius have the most in common with Generation Sagittarius and are least likely to understand Generation Scorpio or Generation Scorpio-Capricorn. Somehow, together, all these Millennials, must overcome their huge differences and take on the new world.

Jessica how about the ones born in 70s. Which generation they belong to. 1977. ?
Anybody born in 1977 is quite unusual as he or she came into the world when Chiron was discovered, and this is a symbol for mentors, tutors, guides, teachers or other instructors who are most unlikely. Malcolm McLaren (The Sex Pistols’ manager) was one and the band, individually and collectively, was also Chironic. He was a music teacher, you see, but he taught so much more. You might say the same for The Saints in Australia or The Buzzcocks in Manchester. The Slits and Siouxsie and the Banshees, The Cure…in fact The Cure might just be the greatest symbol of 1977 spirit there ever was, the name itself being a suggestion of Chiron with his gift for herbal medicine.
Hi Jessica,
Thanks a lot for this post! Will generation Capricorn have a break when Saturn leaves in December? I feel I have half of the sky in Capricorn and the other half in Scorpio and I am kind of looking forward to all the emphasis shifting to Aquarius soon. Are these hopes founded or there is still a lot of learning to happen for us born with so many planets in Capricorn (Scorpio too in my case). As a Scorpio, Uranus in Taurus has also shaken things up for me so I feel a bit lost with both my career (Capricorn) having been through so much in the past years and now my relationships being in the same boat (Uranus in Taurus and my Scorpio placements). I am kind of struggling to find some grounding.
Thank you so much for all your insights.
You are strongly Scorpio-Capricorn so unfortunately you are feeling the massive changes now happening with the new recession and also our future recession. The word is a downer, and it should not actually be seen in those terms. This is a reset. You will be okay and in fact, everyone will be okay, even though we will be asked to massively shift our ideas about our lifestyles, bank accounts, homes and even our food. You will spend until 2026 adjusting and adapting so don’t pressure yourself to be instantly ‘in the place’ because Uranus in Taurus, Saturn and Jupiter in Aquarius, but particularly the North Node in Taurus and South Node in Scorpio in 2022, 2023, are going to alter the way you operate. You may be sharing a job so have 3.5 days off a week. You may accept a lower salary but then the price of an apartment for rent or purchase will go down. Your food will be fresh and grown locally. In fact ‘the new local’ rules your life from 2026. Most of all you want to know if you will be fine. You really will be. The trick is to see where the demands are, or the needs are. Who knew that mask manufacturing would be a boom industry? How about home delivered food? That is just the start though. ‘Tutor is the future’ so you will be tutoring, mentoring, guiding, teaching either casually or professionally. And you will also be learning, training, studying – casually or formally. I can’t comment on your relationship because I don’t have a chart for the other person. You have a ‘restructure’ chart so you will be involved in new business or industry where the old system is replaced. You’ll do well.
I feel like GenX. often forgotten and always cool, is the generation that matters the most and should be written about more. lol Perhaps you agree?
Let me look up Generation X to see where their horoscopes are. Thank you.
